The University of Missouri–Kansas City is a public research university in Kansas City, Missouri. UMKC is part of the University of Missouri System and one of only two member universities with a medical school.

The goal

Before Vurge, UMKC was near their total cooling capacity at their main chiller plant. The campus is always expanding and adding more air conditioned square footage. Their goal was to gain more efficiency allowing more "capacity" to supply chilled water. Secondly, in the heat of the summer when they ran their last chiller, the spike in KW adversely affected their electric bill. Due to the utilities' rate structure, this extra load translated into a six figure event on their bills.

The process

The particle results showed a reduction in Total Suspended Solids of 98.3% after four weeks—from 6,127 parts/million to 106 ppm.

Preliminary results compiled by a third party engineering firm, show that over the summer of 2022, the Electrocell system generated a reduction of 10% in their main plant's total average chiller tonnage from the baseline.

Verified 98.3% reduction in Total Suspended Solids.
